Oktoberfest

18 September–3 October 2027

The world's largest Volksfest, on Munich's Theresienwiese from 18 September to 3 October 2027.

Oktoberfest 2027 runs from 18 September to 3 October on the Theresienwiese, known locally as the Wiesn. It opens at noon on Saturday 18 September, when the mayor taps the first barrel in the Schottenhamel tent. Entry to the grounds and the beer tents is free, but tables in the big tents are reserved months ahead, mostly by groups; without a booking, arrive early on a weekday and look for the unreserved areas. Weekday afternoons are far calmer than weekend nights. The grounds are a short walk from the Hauptbahnhof, and the Theresienwiese U-Bahn station is right beside them. Eat half a roast chicken or a Steckerlfisch between rounds, and stay outside the city centre if you want a quieter night's sleep. Book a room early, as prices jump for the whole fortnight.
