Munich Christkindlmarkt

20 November–24 December 2026

Munich's main Christmas market on Marienplatz, below the New Town Hall, opening earlier than usual on 20 November.

Munich's main Christmas market fills Marienplatz and the Rindermarkt from 20 November to 24 December. It closes on Sunday 22 November for Totensonntag, then opens 10:00 to 21:00 Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 20:00 on Sundays and 10:00 to 14:00 on Christmas Eve. The tree stands in front of the New Town Hall, and live music plays from the Town Hall balcony at 17:15 from Sunday to Thursday. Look for the Kripperlmarkt nativity stalls by Alter Peter. If you are in town on Sunday 13 December, the Krampus run takes over the square from 15:00 to 17:00. Marienplatz has its own U-Bahn and S-Bahn station, so you arrive in the middle of it. Come at opening time on a weekday if you want room to browse.
